Occupational Therapy

Through training and education emphasizing functional performance and independence, our team of Occupational Therapists work with patients to develope and maximize their "skills for the job of living" (AOTA). Following a performance skills assessment, the Occupational Therapist is able to use therapeutic activities to teach patients and their families the ability to maximize performance in all areas of daily living skills including feeding, bathing, dressing, and home management skills. Whether it is a Neurological dysfunction or Orthopaedic acute injury, the Occupational Therapy team is able to safely develop means to accomplish a maximal level of independence. Realistic expectations and goals are established for each patient with continual training provided to family members as well as caregivers to adapt and modify the patient's environment for optimal performance.

   

Other services offered include, Coordination Skills Re-training, Visual/Perceptual Skills Re-training, Upper Extremity Rehabilitation including Hand Rehabilitation, Adaptive Equipment Assessment, Back School Education, and Splinting/Orthotics to promote proper positioning and protect joint integrity of all involved joints.
